Grant Award letters for these funds will be issued to school districts June 8-9, 2023  

New Mexico, and California are just two examples of states with preschool monies to pursue for the 2024 Fiscal Year. New Mexico has recently announced a historic windfall for pre-K and California’s governor has proposed a substantial budget for preschool and Transitional Kindergarten (TK). New Mexico

"The New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department announced on April 5, what it calls a “historic” expansion of New Mexico pre-Kindergarten programs…With $98 million available to expand and enhance New Mexico pre-K allocated by the Legislature for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins in July, the department seeks to expand both instructional hours and educator credentials; increase per student rate and supplemental funding; increase access and provide clarity for Head Start program grantees.”

California

“Governor's Budget Includes $5.9 Billion for Preschool Programs in 2023-24. The Governor's budget proposes providing $3 billion for TK and $2.9 billion for State Preschool. As Figure 1 shows, this is an increase of $553 million (10 percent) from the revised 2022-23 level.”
